on the flip, gantz comes with a new direction of style, dipping into the acid-drenched rave sound of the 90’s with his own set of information. rugged, distorted rhythms grind up against an infectious melody and love’d up vocals, once again, this is proper party gear for all twisted minds (and legs even).

michigan native todd osborn, also known as soundmurderer, also known as osborne, also known as superstructure… ran the first drum & bass record store in the detroit area, the legendary dubplate pressure shop and would later own his own label, rewind records. todd has also built airplanes, computers and hovercrafts. or has he? at this point we need to just accept a mystery.

dungeon meat is the new label and production outfit brought to you by dungeon masters brawther and tristan da cunha. packing a serious punch, its aim is to present tracks designed specifically to rock the party and shake the sound system. originally conceived as a platform for their own musical visions it soon became apparent that they would have to open the doors to a select few who shared their ambition to make no messing, hard hitting house grooves. one of these artists is the mysterious blunt instruments who has the honour of kicking off the label. after road testing his huge club hammer hold back brawther and da cunha knew it had to be on dungeon meat as it epitomised exactly the sound they wanted to present. hold back has been a firm fixture in their sets and even got cut to dubplate by jeremy underground paris. its not all about the a-side though as blunt instruments craft 2 other killer club cuts for the flip side we wont go on too much trying to describe how good this ep is ... instead well let the music do the talking

wncl recordings and kevin mcphee have spent many a moon discussing a shared love of mood ii swing, dubplate culture and bobby champs amongst other things. in between times, the canadian young-gun has been honing 4 tracks to present wncl012 – a finely crafted extended play in which mcphee gets his clonk on. >…in keeping with wncls hard jacking groove tendencies mcphee produces four slices of brick hard house that you will be hard pressed to even try and overlook.< (sonic router)

the long awaited dubplate anthem is here! as soon as we at ns-hq heard >drum track<, we knew atlantas helix would fit right in around here. his two main obsessions are old grime and looping hypnotic berlin techno. and it shows, as both collide here to produce the ultimate rhythm track. this is anthemic 8 bar techno, or sublow gone hands-in-the-air raving. this trak destroyed every festival we played at last summer. this is super-stripped down, poised club music - exactly what night slugs is all about. on the flip, we are honoured to have one of our all-time favourite mic controllers flirta d bless drum track with his >no hook no bs< version. known best for such grime bangers as slks >hype hype< and his own >warp speed<, flirta brings that unique sound-effects laden flow to the riddim like its 2004 again and triumphant rave anthems are going off once more.

pleasure has clearly been busy in the studio over the christmas period and he has a string of really strong releases that are now seeing the light of day. both >minute man< and >move easy< have been bouncing around on dubplate and now its your turn to have a piece of the action.

two collaborations between two highly respected producers. photeks >closer< marked the 50th release on pinchs tectonic last year, and some time in the studio together has produced these standout tracks. acid reign first appeared in january on pinchs fabriclive mix compilation, his dubplate version described by fact mag as >a slow-burning half-stepper with a twisted acid melody fighting for air in an oil spill, as claustrophobic as you like, basically<. m25fm appears on photeks instalment to the highly respected dj kicks compilation series, its another acid-tinged track, taking us into much deeper territory.

dark horizon is the perfect crossover tune with a dark dubstep/grime vibe and raw energy, being battered by n-type, jj, spyro, chef, hatcha, walsh and mistajam.
blotter paper: bouncy club banger with gliding coki-esque bass line. fresh off the factory line battered by n-type, hatcha and the usual dubplate suspects.

following on from his massive cross genre hit >computation<, dismantle hits us again with his first release on terrain, n-types jungle influenced dubstep label. both tracks have been kept very exclusive, to keep the dubplate vibe alive.
broke: deep dark and dangerous, rolling breaks and tribal percussion alongside jungalist pads and thunderous bass. this one tears down the dance in the best way possible. dark, but energetic, a staple in n-type set.
times up: similar darkness but more steppy. this one hits you hard with tearing hoovers, powerful lfos and all the atmosphere from a 90s warehouse rave, in a 2011 style.

this is what happens, the third release on the botanika label, is a story of two cities: tel-aviv, israel, represented on the a side by polar pair, and detroit, usa, represented by both atlantis, with a ferocious spoken word delivery, and mark flash, whose classic detroit soulful techno remix occupies the b side - both of whom hail from the underground resistance collective. the collaboration between polar pair and atlantis, the voice behind urãs classic transitions, came about after a meeting in tel aviv in spring 2007, and now the dubplate is creating serious club-buzz in the underground scenes of both cities, as in the ur related forums.

bristol based bounce bounds forward another leap with two smashing remixes of their previous club destroyer f*ck off. featuring the inimitable stylings of mc foxy, this one was a surefire hit the first time around, and now a pair of weighty remixes offer up a fresh perspective on things.
